We offer over six years experience in dealing with search engines and if there's one thing we think we know, it's "You can never say you've got it all figured out". Search engines are CONSTANTLY changing.
Why do the search engines change so much?
Everyone wants to be at the top of any search list. For example how many people do you think sell mobile phones and want you to visit their mobile phone shop online? It's hundreds and these people do battle with the search engines to see who can come up first. When you consider that most people are under time pressure, they only bother about the first 1-3 search results and at best the first 10. So if you're not on the first 10 list, you mightn't be found altogether. Just like in offline business, location is the most important part of making a sale, if you're not found on the internet, it doesn't matter how good you're site is, if you haven't invested time and money into the most relevant search engines, you're site won't get noticed, as up to 85% of your visitors find you through a search engine.

low ranking = low number of visitors*
* unless you're pouring money into offline promotion, or someone else is referring lots of visitors to your site for you.

Keyword analysis
We work out with you in either a:
- workshop,
- seminar, or
- conversation
your most important keywords, or rather search strings, for example if you sell 'childrens toys' online, a keyword might just be 'children's toys shop' for example, but we have tools to test the most sought after keyword. Sometimes it isn't wise to go after the most intensely sought after keyword, especially if your market is a very high traffic one. It sometimes makes sense to shoot for other keywords, which others are ignoring and consequently result in significant traffic to your site, which in turn increases our ability to someday go for the MAIN KEYWORD that is the most popular facing your business.
Time take for keyword analysis depends on how many products / services you deem IMPORTANT for your site. It could be 1-2 hours to 1-2 weeks depending on how many KEYWORDS you would like to go for in the leading search engines.
Competition analysis
Once we've decided upon which KEYWORDs are wanted, we set about seeing what the competition is like for that particular keyword. We then make decisions based on our KEYWORD density tool and our own search results.
Web page fitness
We then optimize your webpages accordingly, working on
- page title
- page url
- alt-tags
- meta-tags
- links
- etc. etc. we have to keep a few things to ourselves here! :-)
Search engine submission
We use manual and automatic tools for submitting your site to the major search engines. To a lot of minor engines we use professional submission tools. We lay most of our value for money though on manually submitting the URLs (web addresses) to the engines. That means visiting each of the search engines and submitting the URL that is relevant for the submission process. Altavista for example as do many more refuse submissions that are not done manually by using onscreen codes that only a human can read and get through the submission process. This is to stop abuse of their search results.
Follow up and aftercare
"A house wife's work is never done, and never is a search engine strategy either. If someone tells you to pay a fee and once and for all you've got all your search engine troubles behind you, I'd advise you to invest that money elsewhere. Search engines are constantly changing their algorithms to keep ahead of the abuse they get from sex sites, etc.
So once you start taking search engine optimization seriously, there's literally no END to it! :-)
